In celebration of Ghana’s 67th Independence Anniversary, residents of the Adentan Municipality gathered at the Adentan Community School Park. The event featured an insightful address by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ebenezer Doku, who highlighted the theme of the celebration, ‘Our Democracy, Our Pride.’

Hon. Ebenezer Doku emphasized the significance of the chosen theme, stating that it encapsulates the core values of development, equality, and freedom that Ghana has been steadfastly pursuing.

Addressing the crowd, he remarked, “This year provides us with the opportunity to assess the strength of our democracy as we approach the polls in December. Let us not forget that democracy without peace is no gain.“

The 6th of March is Ghana’s Independence Day. It marks the day in 1957 when Ghana gained independence from British colonial rule.

In Ghana, the 6th of March is not only Independence Day but also a national holiday celebrated with great enthusiasm and various events throughout the country. It commemorates the nation’s liberation from British colonial rule and serves as a significant reminder of Ghana’s rich history and journey towards self-governance.

Highlighting the vital link between democracy and peace, the Municipal Chief Executive emphasized that democracy must actively foster peace, sustainable development, the rule of law, and respect for human rights to truly hold meaning. He urged the community to understand that democracy without peace diminishes its significance and worth.

As the festivities unfolded, participants engaged in various activities including parading, fostering a sense of unity and pride in the shared journey towards a democratic and peaceful Ghana.
