Krachi East MCE dies after collapsing at programme

Mr. Bernard Aborkugya Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, has tragically passed away after serving a year in office.

According to a report from the Ghana News Agency, the MCE collapsed while delivering a matriculation speech at the Dambai College of Education on Friday morning. He was swiftly rushed to the Dambai Health Centre, where he later succumbed to the medical emergency.

He was later referred to the WoraWora Government Hospital for further treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival at the facility.

Mr. Kingsley Okuneggy, the New Patriotic Party Communication Officer for Krachi East, has confirmed the incident on the party’s platform.

The deceased, Mr. Bernard Aborkugya Mensah, aged 60, was nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to replace the late MCE, Francis Kofi Okesu, who passed away in September 2022.

Prior to his appointment as MCE, Mr. Mensah served as the Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Krachi East Municipality.

A close source disclosed to the GNA that the deceased’s wife also collapsed on hearing the news and is currently on admission at the same facility at WoraWora.
